The farm holiday facility is located only a short distance from some of the most important Etruscan and Roman archaeological sites: the necropolises of Sovana, Sorano and Pitigiano; Poggio Buco, Vulci, Caere (today known as Cerveteri, famous for the tombs carved out of the tuff in the necropolis of Banditaccia ), Tarquinia (famous for its painted tombs) and Tuscania. Other easily accessible places are Saturnia and its famous spas, LakeBolsena, the Argentario coast (Porto S.Stefano, Porto Ercole and Orbetello), the UccellinaNaturePark, MountAmiata (Abbadia S.Salvatore, Pian Castagnaio), the Val d’Orcia and its spa resorts (Bagno Vignoni, Pienza, Bagni S. Filippo, Montalcino), Siena and Rome.

farmhouse accommodation tuscany Tenimenti della Spinosa” is a farm holiday facility divided, as it used to be in the past, into various farms spread throughout the municipalities of Sorano and Pitigliano (Podere Tiberi, La Vinaccia, Il Molino, La Picciolana, La Montagna and Villa Mancini). Not all the farms have already joined the “Casa Vacanze” project, but soon further offers will be available.
We are located in one of the most beautiful areas of the Maremma, on the borders of Tuscany, Umbria and Lazio. The area occupied by our farms is classified as “mountainous”, even if the altitudes where the holiday facility is located only range from 318 to 600 metres above sea level.
Here we find traces of the most remote civilisations. The most ancient remains in this region date back to the Neolithic period (IV millennium B.C.), but it was during the first Iron Age that the greatest concentration of human settlements developed. First the Etruscans and then the Romans left incredible traces of their presence in these areas: necropolises, objects of every type and value and town walls.

The apartments are located in a typical Maremma-style farmhouse built in tuff, onto which a portico was built at the end of the twentieth century so that more use could be made of the exterior area.
The farm has approximately 80 hectares, 8 of which are vineyards belonging to the Local Quality project, where D.O.C. Sovana, Bianco di Pitigliano and Vermentino di Toscana grapes are grown; the farm grows corn, barley and sunflowers, in rotation: all the crops are being converted to Organic Farming.
The archaeological site of Morranaccio is located on the farm. Although there is not a great deal to be seen here at the moment, it can be visited and is currently the subject of a restoration project by the Municipality of Pitigliano. There are many archaeological sites of great interest that our hosts can reach easily.
